Coach Max Ragsdale is entering his 27th year in education here in Arizona; 22 years teaching in the classroom, 15 years of those years as a head football coach, and now entering his 5th in administration. He graduated from Apache Junction High School in 1990.  He attended Mesa Community College and played offensive line for Coach Jim Ewan. He then attended Arizona State University and worked as an Undergraduate Football Assistant and received his degree in secondary education. Max became a Graduate/Recruiting Coordinator Assistant coach for Bruce Snyder and the Sun Devils in 1996 and was on that staff until the summer of 1998.

Max received his MA (Educational Leadership & Certified Principalship) in the summer of 1998 and was hired as a teacher and varsity football coach at his alma mater, Apache Junction High School. During the next 5 years, he coached various positions and held the title of offensive coordinator until he was named head football coach in 2003. He took over a program that had not had a winning season in 22 years or a play-off appearance for 28 years. In four short years, he took the Prospectors from a 0-10 record to the 2006 4AII State Semi-Finals and a 9-5 record.

In 2007, Max moved to the Gilbert district and spent two years coaching the offensive line and coordinating the special teams at Mesquite High School. Max was then hired as Campo Verde’s first Head Football coach in the fall of 2009 and registered a 60-41 record during his 9 years as a varsity program and played for a 5A State Championship in 2019. Currently, he is beginning his 5th year as the Athletic Director/Assistant Principal at CVHS. Coach Ragsdale has been married to Barbara for 29 years; they have two boys, Tre’ (26) and Romero (23).
