Erica Helfrey, Assistant Principal
My passion for teaching and coaching stems from my high school experience and mentors. Educators impact young lives and I wanted to feel that purpose throughout my career. In 2009 I started as a classroom teacher, coach, and academic counselor in the Florence Unified School District. In 2016 I decided it was time to shorten my commute to work and find a community that fit my values.
It felt like the stars were aligning when a position opened up at Campo and I landed a coaching and teaching position at CVHS. I had the privilege of teaching and coaching while exploring other aspects of education like academic intervention while completing my master's in Organizational Leadership with a certification in administrative leadership.
In 2022 I began my leadership journey as the assistant principal overseeing clubs and activities. I get to support the needs of our clubs, work with exceptional teachers and club supervisors, and organize our graduation celebration. I love to plan, create, collaborate, and coach. I now get to do that with students and teachers! I couldn't ask for a better place to be with a school that embodies our Community, Values, Honor, and Scholarship. I also have the honor of working with an innovative and committed leadership team to improve our student engagement, teacher collaboration, and community outreach.
