Welcome!

German 2

By the end of the school year, German 2 students will be able to create with the language when talking about familiar topics related to their daily life. They can narrate and describe in all major time frames using connected discourse - conversational story-telling as opposed to the fractured, unrelated simple sentences, which characterized their skills in German 1. German 2 topics include personal descriptions, descriptions of locations, shopping for, preparing, and sharing food and beverages, daily routines in both present and past tenses; story-telling in past, present, and future tenses; body parts, health and common ailments, everyday news events, and common personal problems and advice. Students will also expand their knowledge of German culture.

About Me

My name is Sabine Abate, and I am excited about having your child as a student in my German 2 class. I am a native German speaker - born and raised in Germany. I came to the United States with my American husband in 1986. We moved to the East Valley in 2011 with our 2 children, one of whom is a Junior in the Gilbert Public School system, and one is a student at ASU, majoring in Geology with minor in German. My interests include camping, hiking, our dogs, and spending time with my family.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Troy University in Alabama. This is my first time working in the education field, and I am enjoying teaching my native language to my students.
