How can I plan my high school courses?

You will meet with your counselor one-on-one each school year to go over your credits and make sure you are registering for the correct courses. If you would like to get a jump start in planning, you may use this 4 year plan worksheet

How can I get involved?

From sports, to clubs, to volunteer opportunities, there are several ways to make your mark at CVHS. Visit the “Athletics” page (tab located above) to learn more about sports that are offered. Visit the “Activities/Clubs” page (tab located above) to learn more about the array of clubs offered using the link to the 2017-18 Club Brochure on this page. It is recommended to start a log of your volunteer hours during freshman year, that way by your senior year you don’t have to try and recall all of the hours of service you have performed.

If you plan to apply for an Honor's Cord for graduation, it is a requirement to document all hours through this form:
Service Log for Honor's Cord

How do grades work in high school?

The school year is divided into two semesters and students earn a grade at the end of each semester which goes on their high school transcript. This means their final class grade in December will go on their transcript, then grades will start from scratch in January, and again the final class grade in May will also go on their transcript. Credit is earned for a grade of 'D' or higher. Students in Gilbert Public Schools will be assessed using the following grading scales:

Grading Scale        GPA           Weighted GPA
100-90 = A             A = 4.0                 A = 5.0
89-80 = B               B = 3.0                 B = 4.0
79-70 = C               C = 2.0                 C = 3.0
69-60 = D              D = 1.0                 D = 1.0
59-0 = F                 F = No credit      F = No credit
