About Me

Mr. Mitchell has been the Assistant Director of Bands at Campo Verde High School since Fall of 2018. Prior to being the Assistant Director, Mr. Mitchell was the brass caption head for the Coyote Pride Marching Band in Fall of 2017, and has taught in the J.O. Combs Unified School District (Queen Creek, AZ) and at the Tucson Country Day School (Tucson, AZ). Mr. Mitchell received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of New Mexico and his Master’s Degree in Wind Conducting from the University of Arizona.


While pursuing his Master’s Degree at the University of Arizona, Mr. Mitchell served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Pride of Arizona, an award-winning and nationally recognized collegiate marching ensemble, as well as the University of Arizona Pep Band. During his studies, Mr. Mitchell conducted the Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, and Symphonic Band. Mr. Mitchell is an alumni of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity and is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma. Mr. Mitchell has performed and taught with a number of World Class Drum Corps International ensembles, including The Bluecoats, The Blue Stars, The Troopers, and Spirit of Atlanta. Mr. Mitchell is active in the musical community, currently serving as the Musical Director for the Santa Cruz Summer Winds and has served as the Associate Director of the Old Pueblo Brass Band and Guest Conductor with the Civic Orchestra of Tucson.


Mr. Mitchell is an advocate for his students and for the arts, aiming to create better people and communities through a positive aesthetic experience.
