All juniors get to take ACT for free on 2/27 - Please watch email for more information.

No school that day for 9th, 10th, or 12th that day. EVIT students in grades 10 and 12 are still required to attend. Any juniors will be given a home school activity in lieu of attending since they will be taking the ACT.

At the beginning of the spring semester, we will be implementing a sweep program as we have a significant number of students arriving late to school. This is only a first period program, all other periods of the day will be handled according to student handbook. The purpose of sweep is to keep the educational process going without numerous interruptions from tardy students; while promoting student responsibility and assisting them in learning the importance of accountability and punctuality.

Below is a brief explanation of sweep:

Students who do not arrive to their first hour class on time will be redirected to the sweep room. A parent or guardian must physically enter the building to sign in the late student, otherwise the student will be directed to sweep. Parent phone calls will not excuse the sweep.

While in sweep students will not be able to work on assignments, socialize, or use any electronic devices. Procedures will be in place for students to make up class work and tests they may have missed when they were in Sweep. If a student is swept on a test day, the teacher will allow the student to make up the test. Students who have an assignment due will deliver it to the teacher that same day. All students will be informed of how the Sweep program will be integrated into their school day.

Students who demonstrate repeated tardy behavior will be subject to the progression of interventions and disciplinary action in an effort to encourage and teach proper time management skills. Consequences for sweep will go as follows:
  • 1st Tardy Offense: Students will be sent to sweep for the remainder of the class period and it will be documented.

  • 2nd Tardy Offense: Students will be sent to sweep for the remainder of the class period and receive a referral.

  • 3rd Tardy Offense: Students will be sent to sweep for the remainder of the class period and assigned Saturday School.

Data will be collected on the effectiveness of the program as we believe the sweep program will benefit students, parents and teachers. We strive to give students every opportunity to be successful and the first step towards success is having prompt attendance.

Students should log off and shut down their Chromebooks at least once a week.  When they sign back on, it triggers the update process automatically.  If they are not doing this, at some point, they will have a problem. If students are encountering problems the first step is to run an update, HOW TO Update Chromebook

A message from Security:

  1. Per District Policy, you must check-in with the front office or security before going to your car for items.  And only one person at a time.
  2. To avoid an orange sticker, you must have your car permit number easily seen by Security.  For example, do not place permit under shades, etc.
  3. You must show your school ID to Security as you exit the parking lots each day.
