Dual Enrollment Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Dual Enrollment?
It's an opportunity for eligible high school students to earn lower-division college credit during their regular high school classes. The credits are treated the same as regular college credit, and are transferable to other Maricopa Community Colleges, Arizona's state universities, and many out-of state colleges.

How does dual enrollment credit transfer to a university?

For in-state schools please visit the link: AZ Transfer

For out-of-state schools please contact the admissions office directly of the out-of-state school you are interested in for further information.
What are the benefits of Dual Enrollment?
Since you're already in the class, why not get college credit for it? Credit is based on the grade received in the class. You can also save money through community college tuition rates and having your textbooks provided by your high school.

How do I pay for my dual enrollment class(es)? When is payment due for my dual enrollment class(es)?

Registration and payment must be received by CGCC by September 17, 2018 for fall 2018 classes and February 11, 2019 for spring 2019 classes or students will be automatically dropped. No refunds will be issued after these dates. Payments go directly to CGCC.

Tuition can be paid in these ways:
  • Pay with cash, check, money order, or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) in person at CGCC's Pecos campus or Williams Field campus cashier's office.
  • Call the CGCC fiscal office at 480-732-7312 with your student number ready and provide a credit/debit card number to charge.
  • Pay online at my.maricopa.edu by logging in to the Student Center with your MEID and password, then clicking the “Payment Options” button under the Finances section. This option allows you to pay all at once or sign up for a monthly payment plan (currently, separate payment plans must be set up for each semester of dual enrollment classes). Online payment may not be available when accessed through a phone or tablet.
What if I don't want to do Dual Enrollment after signing up, or I change my schedule?

It is the student’s responsibility to drop the class through one of the following methods:

  1. Email the Dual Enrollment office at dualenrollment@cgc.edu with the student's name, college ID number, the high school the student attends, and the class the student wishes to drop; OR

  2. The student can come to the Coyote Center at our Pecos campus and fill out a drop/add form.

Please note that dropping a class after the payment deadline will result in a grade of W on your transcript. The W grade will not directly affect your GPA, but it may affect your future eligibility for federal financial aid (view CGCC policy here). You will also still be responsible for paying any remaining tuition for the class, or be ineligible for a refund if you've already paid for the class.

What happens if I don't pay tuition?

If tuition isn't paid (either in full or by setting up an online monthly payment plan), you will be dropped from your classes without notice. If you are dropped from your classes, you can request to be reinstated within two weeks of the payment deadline by coming to CGCC in person with a photo ID or emailing dualenrollment@cgc.edu and including your name, high school, and college ID number (the one that begins with a 3). We will not be able to accept reinstatement requests made over the phone or through a high school instructor/staff member.
