Video: Getting to Know your Chromebook


- All students will receive Chromebooks on Monday, August 6 through English classes.

- The Chromebooks are property of Gilbert Public Schools and students are borrowing these Chromebooks.

- Gilbert Public Schools will provide the same Chromebook to the student until the student graduates or leaves the district.

- All details can be found in the Student Device Handbook.

- Students should ONLY use the @gilbertschools.net account to login while using the Chromebook.

- Consider purchasing the DPP and/or a protective case for the Chromebook.

2018-2019 Device Protection Plan Information
- The DPP is $25 and covers all repairs. If no claims are filed this school year, it will roll over to next year. Refer to page 5 and 6 of the Student Device Handbook for all details of the DPP.

- If you purchased the DPP a previous year and no damage claims were filed, it has been rolled over to this school year.  Here are the directions for you to check to see if your coverage rolled over to this year. 

- If you started school at the beginning of the year, you have until August 31, 2018 to purchase the DPP.  

- If you are a new student in the middle of the school year, you have 2 weeks from your first day to purchase the DPP.

-Purchasing the DPP can be done through the Infinite Campus portal or in the CVHS Bookstore.  

-Any purchase of a new Chromebook charger (whether damaged or lost) will cost $25 regardless if the students has the DPP. Students can pick up a new cord in the library and a $25 fee will be added to their Infinite Campus account to be paid when convenient.

Charging Information:

 - Students should charge their CB at home every night and keep their charger at home. - A Chromebook can charge in less than an hour and the charge will last for 9 hours. - The library provides charging stations before school and at lunch as a support.

Updating your Chromebook:
- Students should log off and shut down their Chromebook once a week in order to allow the Chromebook to update automatically.

- If you have not updated your Chromebook regularly, you will have to update it manually. Click here for the directions.

- Be careful not to slam the lid closed or pick up the Chromebook by the lid as it will crack the screen.

Repair Information: 
-If a student is having problems with a Chromebook, take the Chromebook to the library for it to be repaired.
- If the problem can not be fixed immediately, the student will be issued a loaner until his original Chromebook is repaired. - The parent will be notified via email about the problem and a possible fee (dependent on DPP purchase). -The student will be notified in one of their classes from Mrs. Jeffers via notice when the original Chromebook is repaired and the student will return the loaner to the library. If you are a new student:

1. Go to the library to receive your Chromebook.

2. Decide if you will purchase the Device Protection Plan (within 2 weeks of your first day).
